Birthday Party in Elysium.

Birthday Party in Café Bar Elysium, Na bojišti 8, Prague 2.

Café Bar Elysium  has been  opened since October  2013. It offers a good selection of various drinks, cocktails, coffees, cold kitchen, excellent service  and relaxed atmosphere for guests of all age categories. I  selected it for inviting  friends to my  traditional birthday party in March which was a great success.  Since then some time has passed and Elysium continues to flourish. It has become  a venue for many other birthday parties, wedding celebrations, introduction of new books to the market, and regular place for playing games and meeting friends (among others, members of Rotary club became regulars). Please come and see for yourself.

Information about the origin of the name:

You are entering Elysium :

Elysium or Elysian fields represent the concept of the afterlife,  developed originally by Greek religious and philosophical sects. Elysium was first separated  from Hades, and access was restricted  only to mortals related to the gods or heroes.   Later, it expanded to include the righteous, and the heroic ones where they would remain after death, to live a blessed and happy life, and indulging in whatever employment they had enjoyed most in their lives. The ruler of Elysium varies from author to author. According to Hesiod and Pindar it was  Kronos , according to Homer  fair haired Rhadamanthus.

In modern arts, music and literature as well as in geographical names the concept of Elysium is  often used in the sense of paradise and paradise living.

From numerous examples,  just a few:

·       New Orleans - Elysian Fields

·       Paris - Elysian Fields ( Champs - Élyssées )

·       Los Angeles -  Elysian Park

·       Planet Mars - Elysium Mons ( volcanic region of Mars and the name of one of the volcanoes)

·       Tennessee Williams – in a drama: A Streetcar Named Desire

·       William Carlos Williams – Poem Spring and All

·       William Shakespeare – Twelfth Night (shipwrecked Viola is told – “This is Illyria, Lady”. “And what should I do in Illyria? My brother he is in Elysium” – in Renaissance times, Elysium was synonymous to paradise)

·        W. A. Mozart - The Magic Flute ( Aria of Papageno)

·       Schiller's text for Beethoven's Ode to Joy - "Freude Schöner Götterfunken, Tochter aus Elysium"

·       Elysium - excellent American dystopian sci-fi film from 2013 (starring Matt Damon and Jodie Foster). In 2154, a limited number of privileged are living in the luxury cosmic space called Elysium and all the others live on a crowded and  destroyed planet Earth.

·       Finally, a quote from the movie Gladiator (director Ridley Scott), from a speech by General Maximus to his troops: "If you find yourself alone, riding in the green fields with the sun on your face, do not be troubled. For you are in Elysium, and you're already dead!"

“Elysium” is  trying to make you really feel as its name suggests -  divinely. Café Bar Elysium , At the Battlefield 8, (Na Bojišti 8), 120 00 Praha 2,  Czech Republic
